How To Care For Your Poinsettias - Poinsettias are not poisonous.
- Poinsettias prefer bright light, but will tolerate low light for short periods.
- The soil should be allowed to dry out somewhat between waterings.
- When the top 2-3 inches of soil feel dry to the touch, it’s time to water.
- Drain excess water in the basket, container, or saucer at the base of the pot after every watering to prevent root rot.
- Poinsettias like cooler temperatures than you might think, 65-70 degrees during the day and 60-65 degrees at night. These lower temperatures help maintain the color of the bracts and hold the flowers longer, which are the berries in the center of the brightly colored bracts.
